2023 Alumni Award winner for Innovation and Enterprise: Izzy Obeng (BSc 2014)

Izzy Obeng graduated with a degree in Politics in 2014 and worked in consultancy before establishing her own company Foundervine. An award-winning social enterprise, Foundervine supports new and established founders to create successful entrepreneurial ventures through access to training, networks and capital. Izzy is also a public speaker, an Adviser to Lloyds Banking Group and Big Issue Invest, among others, and is a Forbes 30 Under 30 recipient.

Winner of the 2023 Alumni Award for Innovation and Enterprise, Izzy shares candid insights on her career journey, relatable role models and expanding her comfort zone.

‘For me, the most important trait for business and personal success is to understand oneself’: 2023 Alumni Award winner, Nazir Razak (BSc 1988), on a lifetime of building organisations

Tan Sri Nazir Razak graduated with a degree in Economics and Politics from the University of Bristol in 1988. Upon his return to Malaysia, he joined Commerce International Merchant Bankers Berhad (CIMB), a small bank which, under his leadership from the 1990s, grew to become one of the leading universal banks in South East Asia. He retired as Chairman of CIMB in 2018, and has since established Ikhlas Capital, a private equity firm, alongside holding several board positions.

2022 Alumni Award winners for Business and Industry: Eldar (BSc 1996) and Roy (BSc 1992) Tuvey

Brothers Eldar and Roy Tuvey are at the forefront of cyber security and pioneers in the world of enterprise solutions. After both graduating with Economics degrees in the 1990s, they co-founded internet security company ScanSafe, the first cybersecurity company to deliver web security software online. They have since established Wandera, a global leader in mobile security and data management and more recently Vertice, designed to help finance teams manage their software spends.

2022 Alumni Award winners for Innovation and Enterprise: Dr Neciah and Josephine Dorh

This year’s alumni award winners for Innovation and Enterprise, Neciah and Josephine Dorh, have been recognised for the invaluable role they’re playing in tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Their health-tech start-up, FluoretiQ, is developing rapid diagnostic tools which will help doctors to diagnose infections quickly and accurately. This crucial technology will reduce the over prescription of antibiotics, which is a driving cause of AMR. We caught up with the husband-and-wife duo to learn more. (more…)
