The COVID-19 pandemic is having a profound impact on the way we work, our jobs, career plans and professional development. The University of Bristol, together with hundreds of alumni volunteers, is here to provide resources, advice and insight to members of our alumni community.
Online journal and courses
Bristol graduates can access the JSTOR collection of online journals for free. JSTOR is a high-quality, interdisciplinary archive that includes leading academic journals across the humanities, social sciences, as well as primary resources. To access JSTOR, you will need a Bristol Connects account: sign up to access to JSTOR.
You can sign up now for Bristol’s open online courses. Themed around Innovation and Enterprise, Global Citizenship and Sustainable Futures, the courses are a great way to develop essential skills and attributes and to learn collaboratively with other members of the global Bristol community. Find out more and sign up for courses starting on 22 June 2020.
Speak to a Career Expert
There are currently over 500 Career Experts on Bristol Connects, ready to offer advice and insight. Career Experts – who volunteer their time to support others in the Bristol alumni community – can share their knowledge of different industries and their experience of key career challenges, including changing career and setting up a business. They may also be able to support with reviewing CVs or job applications. Find out more about speaking to a Career Expert and read guidance on how to make the most of the programme.
Join an online event
We will soon be launching Bristol Connects: live, an online series of career development and networking sessions focusing on different industries and ways of working. Keep an eye out for more information via email, or on the Bristol alumni Facebook and Twitter accounts.
