Earlier this month, Bristol graduates based in China enjoyed a China Graduation Celebration in Shanghai.
Over 600 graduates and their friends, families and supporters came together in Shanghai earlier this month for the China Graduation Celebration. Hosted at the W Shanghai – The Bund hotel, the Graduation Celebration was an amazing opportunity to honour our 2023 graduates and their remarkable achievements, and officially welcome them to their Bristol alumni community.
The ceremony was led by Professor Agnes Nairn, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement, who said on the day: ‘Ceremonies like this one are one of the most important occasions in the life of a university. The first and foremost thing to say is, congratulations. We are enormously proud of you and your achievements.’
The Graduation Celebration included speeches, canapés, photo opportunities and an impressive stage set up. Students were able to meet Professor Agnes Nairn and professional photographers were on hand to capture the students’ special moments with friends and family.
Graduates reflecting on the day said their favourite moments were celebrating with family, shaking hands with the Pro Vice-Chancellor on stage, and catching up with friends. One student described it as ‘the graduation of dreams’ and another said: ‘Thank you, alma mater, for giving me the best graduation.’
A joyous event, this Graduation Celebration was a testament to an amazing community of Bristol graduates. Our China graduates are part of an international community of Bristol alumni based in over 190 countries around the world. The Shanghai and Beijing Alumni Networks are just two examples of our international alumni volunteer networks that Bristol graduates can join to keep in touch with one another and their University.
